Preventive Pediatric Dental Care

Preventive dental care for children includes routine cleanings, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, digital X-rays (low radiation), custom mouthguards, and space maintainers. At Astro Pediatric Dentistry, prevention and early intervention are the cornerstones of lifelong oral health.

Restorative Dentistry for Children

When a tooth needs more than prevention, we restore it with precision and care — always using the most tooth-friendly approach available. We offer tooth-colored fillings, pulpotomies and pulpectomies, and both stainless steel and same-day zirconia crowns for a natural appearance.

Emergency Pediatric Dentist

Same-day emergency appointments available. If your child has a dental emergency after hours, call (973) 567-7774 for guidance. Our goal is to relieve pain and save permanent teeth whenever possible.

Clear Aligners for Kids & Teens

Phase II clear aligner treatment for patients ages 12 and up, provided by Dr. You. We offer a comprehensive aligner experience — including retainers, lateral buildup, metal retainer removal, and gingivectomies when needed — even if orthodontic treatment was done elsewhere.

Laser Frenectomy for Tongue Tie and Lip Tie

We use advanced laser technology to release tongue ties and lip ties with greater precision, faster healing, and less discomfort than traditional surgical methods. Astro Pediatric Dentistry is one of the few practices in Essex County, NJ offering laser frenectomy for infants and children.

Minimally Invasive Dentistry

Preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible is at the heart of our philosophy. We use conservative, evidence-based techniques including ICON Resin Infiltration, Silver Diamine Fluoride, the Hall Crown Technique (no injections, no drilling), and Curodont Enamel Regeneration.

Sedation Dentistry for Kids

Sedation dentistry helps children who need extra support have a safe, comfortable dental experience. We offer two carefully monitored options: nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for mild anxiety, and in-office general anesthesia administered by a board-certified dental anesthesiologist for deeper sedation needs.

Special Needs Dentistry

Astro Pediatric Dentistry welcomes children with autism, Down syndrome, sensory processing differences, and other special needs. We are advocates, not judges. Every child deserves compassionate, high-quality dental care, and we mean that.

Teen & Adolescent Dental Care

Dr. You is a general dentist with a passion for working with tweens, teens, and young adults. She offers root canals, crown restorations, tooth replacement, Phillips Zoom whitening, and lateral buildup — plus honest conversations about how smoking, eating disorders, and nutrition affect oral health.

Baby's First Dental Visit

Healthy smiles start from the very beginning. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends scheduling your child's first dental appointment at the eruption of the first tooth or by their first birthday, whichever comes first.

Dentistry that starts with trust.

We believe a child's earliest dental experiences shape their relationship with oral health for life. Every visit at Astro is intentional — slowed down, child-led, and built around the idea that a successful appointment isn't just clean teeth. It's a child who leaves feeling a little braver than when they arrived.

Empathy first

Fear and tears are communication, not inconvenience. Every response is thoughtful and patient.

Honest, no-pressure care

We explain every option clearly — risks and benefits included — so families feel confident, never rushed.

Long-term relationships

From babies to teens. Families never need to switch practices as their children grow.

Transparent education

We use intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and AI radiograph tools to show families exactly what we see.

We try to treat every child the way we would want our own to be treated — with empathy, honesty, and the kind of care you actually remember.

— Dr. Minsuk Cha & Dr. Samantha You, Founders
